Ingoldmells Academy

Music

In music, children are taught to express themselves creatively through songs, rhymes and chants as well as performing with a range of musical instruments.  They are taught to listen and appreciate a wide range of music both modern and historical.  Children then have the opportunity to compose music for a variety of purposes.  As a child moves through our school, their musical knowledge and understanding will deepen building on the foundations laid in the previous years.

Guidance and resources have been used from Kapow to support planning and delivery of music.

Children take part in a weekly singing assembly where they are encouraged to sing in groups, perform in rounds and harmonies.

In Year 3/4 children get the opportunity to play a musical instrument with tuition provided by the Music Service and in year 5/6 they have a term of musical theatre provision.
